Much as Google has figured out how to harness user-submitted content to improve Google Earth, Wikisky.org turns the collective wiki-eye on the vast reaches of space. Check out the draggable space model with constellations highlighted, learn more about distant stars (or submit your own info)—or you can even see a model of the stars that are above you right now

Wikisky is like Google Earth for space
wikisky1.png
Pan, zoom, browse and explore the night sky in a Google Earth-like interface at Wikisky.
Wikisky can show you the stars above a given location at a certain time. Turn on constellation overlays to check out Orion's belt, or hover over individual stars for name, distance, magnitude and constellation information. This is an incredible resource for astronomy enthusiasts - plan to spend quite a bit of time exploring here. —Gina Trapani
