There seems to be more than one problem and reason and thus solution here. I also got the error "performSync caught exception: ISyncInvalidRecordException: ISyncSession record validation failure: Value other pushed for enumeration property service on com.apple.contacts.IM is not an allowed value." and describe what solved it in my case.
In my Google contacts I had added the an "Instant Messaging" attribute of type "Skype" to one contact. The scheme Skype is not available in the Mac OS Address Book. When I removed this attribute the sync worked for me again (I hade to log out and in from Gmail web site). When I reentered the Skype attribute I got the error message again.
