Public Sticky notes

Having enrolled my 8 year old in a private, Episcopal school for the last few years, and had the experience of seeing him survive but not thrive in two public schools in two different districts, I have to agree there are savage inequities in play.

TCEA 2008: Notes on Anita Givens' Presentation

I was listening to a presentation by Anita Givens at TCEA 2008--via podcast since I didn't attend TCEA 2008 this year--and ran out of time, cleaned my desktop, archived this blog entry in my DRAFT folder, and this is all I got out of what I listened to in the presentation. Unbelievable.

Yet, maybe these 3 points are all I needed to hear.

  • Use technology comprehensively to develop proficiency in 21st Century Skills. Knowledge of core content is necessary, no longer sufficient. Students mastering content would still be woefully under-prepared if they aren't using technology to communicate, collaborate and create.
  • Use technology to support innovative teaching and learning.
  • Use technology to create robust educational support systems.
