Perhaps a light tan color -- just a slight contrast to the rest. The current mustard yellow is just not right

Sure. Either a dark orange like the border, and change the text to light blue.

I like the dark orange better -- more consistent with the rest of emphasis on this page. Give it a try. Of course, the text color underneath needs to be changed as well.
