BlackBerry’s improve work life balance 25/08/2006 A new study has reported that most BlackBerry users insist that the wireless email solution has improved the balance between their working and home lives. The survey carried out by recruitment firm Korn/Ferry International found that four out of five executives globally are always connected to their work via mobile devices, for example mobile phones, PDAs, laptops or pagers. Of the 2,300 executives surveyed in over 75 countries, over three quarters or 77% believe that mobile communications devices enhance their work/life balance rather than upset it. The BlackBerry wireless solution has revolutionised working practices since its introduction in the late 1990s as the ability of users to check email whilst on the move at any time means a faster response to dynamic conditions and therefore greater efficiency. Furthermore the ability to use up so called ‘dead’ time, for example whilst travelling between meetings, allows BlackBerry users to spend less time in the office as upon arrival they have already dealt with all their email administration and can get on with more important parts of their work. Essentially if you no longer have to be at your desk to work, you can get out of the office and spend more time at home. For those who raise concerns about always being connected to work, a BlackBerry can be switched off just as easily as a mobile phone and with 1.2 million BlackBerry Phones shipped by RIM in the first quarter of fiscal 2007 ending June 3rd, and subscribers up 680,000 to 5.5 million worldwide BlackBerry uptake continues to grow strongly.
