Public Sticky notes

Fresh evidence of inflation surfaced around the world, prompting some central banks to raise interest rates but vexing others whose economies are slowing under the weight of high commodity prices and, in some cases, slackening consumer demand.

In India, wholesale-price inflation jumped to its highest level in 13 years in early June and is expected to move higher. In Germany, producer-price inflation accelerated in May and could hit a 26-year high in June. In Hong Kong, consumer-price inflation accelerated in May, and economists say higher food prices and private-housing rental costs will add to inflationary pressures in the months ahead.
