An interesting look at the idea of how culture (Western culture, at least) was changed by the invention of the printing press. Kerr summarizes points by John Lienhard that the printed book prompted the beginning of scientific reasoning. He says the changes happened in about one generation; the older generation had to pass before the younger generation could make these large-scale changes.

Public Sticky notes

the book ushered in a whole new way of thinking - scientific thinking

How quickly did those changes happen?
